Modern green walls are sophisticated growing systems. Plant selection, irrigation, nutrition, lighting and environmental management can be precisely engineered for long-term performance. Yet there is one challenge that engineering alone cannot remove: the plant must adapt.

A plant raised under carefully controlled nursery conditions is suddenly transferred into a completely different growing environment. During this transition, the root system must establish quickly enough for the plant to adapt and become part of the new system.

ActiveWALL is designed around this critical establishment phase. By integrating LYVENTA's SMARTfibre technology directly into the cassette, we bring our plant-stimulating technology to the root zone precisely where and when it matters most.

Developed and tested since 2017, SMARTfibre is LYVENTA's patented technology for integrating our plant-stimulating material directly into a fibrous rooting matrix. As the plant establishes, newly developing roots grow into and through the SMARTfibre layer. This creates direct interaction between the developing root system and a technology that has repeatedly produced exceptionally vigorous root and vegetative development in our work.

We do not need to change how professional green walls are engineered. SMARTfibre focuses on the biological transition between installation and stable establishment helping the plant reach the point where the existing growing system can take over.

A sophisticated green wall represents a considerable investment in plants, materials, engineering and installation. Losing plants during establishment means investing in part of that process twice.

Replacement requires new plants, labour, transport, access and another establishment cycle. Preventing avoidable losses therefore matters environmentally as well as economically.

Our principle of sustainability is simple: make better use of what has already been invested. SMARTfibre is designed to support successful establishment from the beginning, creating the biological foundation required for long-term growth within the engineered system.
